Current Event Cat of the Day:

A group of seven Native Canadian youths have finished a 1,600km trek from Whapmagoostui, Quebec to Ottawa in protest against living conditions on reservations. The youths began their journey in January, travelling by both snowshoe and sled. They were joined by protesters along the way, culminating with hundreds gathering outside the Canadian parliament yesterday in support of the Idle No More movement.

The Idle No More movement was gained attention after Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence’s faux-44-day hunger strike in December and January. It was Theresa Spence’s hunger strike that initially inspired the group to make the trek to Ottawa. Impressive journey, but talk about a terrible role model…
