Newlywed Shoves Husband Off a Cliff

Newlywed Couple Cliff

Number one rule of marriage: don’t argue on top of a cliff. Newlywed Cody L. Johnson learned that lesson the hard way when he fell to his death after his bride of one week Jordan Linn Graham pushed him off a cliff.

On Monday Graham, 22, appeared in federal court on felony charges of second-degree murder for allegedly pushing her husband, 25, off the cliff. If convicted, she faces life in prison.

On the afternoon of July 7, 2013, the Montana couple had been arguing so they decided to cool off by going up the hiking trail at the Loop in Glacier National Park. In retrospect that wasn’t the smartest idea since already bickering couple + strenuous activity + hot summer weather = more arguments. Long story short, someone got pushed off a cliff.

When the husband’s employer reported him missing two days later, the bride, reportedly told police that Cody Johnson, had gone “for a drive with a friend from out of town” two days earlier and that she hadn’t seen him since. But things started to look awfully suspicious after investigators discovered that Jordan Graham was having second thoughts about her marriage. Things got even more suspicious when it was Graham who located her dead husband’s body in Glacier National Park.

Eventually she told police that Johnson grabbed her arm while they argued, and she could have walked away—but “due to her anger,” she pushed Johnson with both hands on the back, and he fell off the cliff.

Apparently Johnson’s family was not surprised foul play was involved. A family friend told the Missoulian newspaper:

“Nobody is shocked at all … She’d been telling people she knew she never wanted to be married, she just wanted to have a wedding, and that’s apparently what they were arguing about.”

Sounds like a real catch. Although if she was a bit smarter she could have just waited out the marriage for a couple of months and he probably would have thrown himself off the cliff voluntarily.
