The Accidental Vagina: Qatar’s 2022 World Cup Stadium Looks A Little Familiar…

Vagina Stadium Qatar

Designs for Qatar’s first World Cup stadium, Al-Wakrah, have been released and it bears a striking resemblance to a very large vagina.

The architectural firm that designed the 2022 World Cup stadium based the building on a traditional pearl fishing Qatari dhow boat, but with its shiny, pinkish tinge, its labia-like side attachments and its large opening in the middle, it’s clearly a vagina.

The stadium, with a capacity of 40,000 people, is expected to be completed by 2018. Hassan al-Thawadi, the general secretary of Qatar’s 2022 committee says Al-Wakrah is the first of six stadiums already in the latter stages of the design process.

No word yet if the other designs will also feature vagina-like traits but I say bring it on! There’s enough penis imagery in buildings today – it’s time to usher in a new era of architecture: vaginas.

Aside from being an eye pleaser, the vagina shaped stadium serves another (accidental?) purpose. It’s taken away from the controversy surrounding Qatari labour conditions. Qatar has faced criticism over allegations of migrant construction worker exploitation. According to Amnesty International, these workers are often subjected to non-payment of wages, dangerous working conditions, squalid accommodation, and are sometimes referred to as “animals”.

Yes, hundreds of migrant workers have been slaving away under the hot Qatari sun for this giant vagina. But not to worry, the building designers plan to install a cooling system in the giant open-air vagina to offset the extreme summer temperatures. No one wants to sit in a sweaty vagina watching men play with their balls.
